Cute Caterpillar Valentine's Card for Kids

With Valentine's Day just around the corner, we have been getting crafty and making cards for our loved ones. My little girl Olivia had a lovely idea for a Valentine's day card, incorporating bright colours, a cute caterpillar and some fun, fun, fun! We wanted to share the fun with all of you!

What you'll need;

  • White card or paper (A4)

  • Coloured Paper

  • Pencil and Black Pen

  • Scissors

  • Glue

  • Googly Eyes and small pom pom's (optional)

Method;

  1. Fold the card in half (landscape)

  2. Using one of the coloured papers, draw a heart shape a little smaller than the height of the folded card.

  3. Cut the heart shape out, and glue this to the left hand side of the card (this will be the caterpillar's head).

  4. Using another 5 to 6 pieces of coloured paper, draw and cut hearts out, slightly smaller in size than the first heart (these will be used to create the body). A little tip: we put all the pieces of paper on top of each other and cut the same heart shape altogether!

  5. Fold the heart pieces in half, and glue the left hand side only to the card from left to right.

  6. Stick the googly eyes to the first heart shape, and using black pen draw a smiley mouth also. (If you do not have googly eyes, drawing them would be fine!)

  7. Draw 2 little legs and feet with the black pen on the bottom of each smaller heart.

  8. Finally, draw some little lines with black pen coming from the top of the head to create some antlers. Tip: we added two very small pink pom pom's to the top of the antlers and two very small red pom pom's to the cheeks for added cuteness! This step is optional!

  9. We finally added single letters with the black pen to each small heart to spell out 'LOVE U' across the caterpillar's body. Feel free to personalise your's in anyway you like. Be fun, be creative!

This is such a cute little design for kids, it's fun, bright and quirky and we certainly had a lot of fun making it. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
